In what is one of the most famous movie moments of all time, Darth Vader reveals to Luke Skywalker that he is his father, shortly after severing his sons hand during their epic battle from The Empire Strikes Back.
After his escape, Luke’s hand is replaced with a bionic hand. Giving him the ability and performance of a human appendage but with the enhanced capabilities that electronic and electromechanically devices can provide.
Oh how we all adored, and with the rejuvenation of the Star Wars franchise, are still adoring our much loved characters from a galaxy far, far away. An entire industry of fandom has been built around the star wars universe. From toys to clothing and even toaster ovens! However, one place you may not have thought to think is in the material handling industry.
Though it is not directly inspired by George Lucas’ series, the G-Force from Gorbel is something straight out of a science fiction.
In the real world, here on earth, traditional lifting devices, such as chain and rope hoists as well as automated robotic devices controlled by a computer are the common applications used in the material handling industry. However, the Gorbel G-Force integrates these two parallels, combining the capabilities of both applications to enhance the outcome, much like Luke’s hand.
The G-Force intelligent lifting device is based on servo mechanics, which uses a powered mechanism that produces motion or forces at higher levels of energy than the input level. Using human intelligence and adaptability for guidance the device then does all the work. The device tracks the movements of natural human motion, without the use of buttons or throttles.
Gorbel offers two different G-force ergonomic lifting devices. The G-force Q and the iQ. Both devices offer capacities up to 1320lbs and speeds up to 200ft per minute and with the patented G360 collector and swivel assembly, damage to the coil and/or optional air coil is prevented.
G- Force Q
Handle configurations are easily changeable in the field
Intuitive servo-controlled lift
Standard float mode capability
Standard coil cords with in-field add-on air hose
LCD on hand controller communicates more information like system status and diagnostics
Seamless operator present function by means of a photo sensor
Ease of installation for reduced installation time & costs
IQ
The G-Force iQ comes with the same standard features as the Q option, however with much more programmable features.
Remote Mount Auxiliary input/output block mounted below the handle
Standard teachable virtual limits and speed reduction points
Standard dual virtual limits
Handle configurations are easily changeable in the field
Intuitive servo-controlled lift
Standard float mode capability
Standard coil cords with in-field add-on air hose
LCD on hand controller communicates more information like system status and diagnostics
Seamless operator present function by means of a photo sensor
Standard input/output functionality makes the product suitable for more applications out of the box
Ease of installation for reduced installation time & costs
Programmable inputs and outputs
With either G-Force device being a viable option for a myriad of applications, it is easy to see that The Force is strong with this one.
